Who This Site is For

RocketFFL is an educational resource for individuals who want to obtain a Federal Firearms License (FFL), start a firearms business, or better understand the laws and regulations that apply to existing FFL holders.

The process of becoming an FFL can be confusing, particularly for people who are unfamiliar with the requirements established by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Even experienced firearms business owners may have questions about regulatory requirements and their ongoing compliance obligations.

RocketFFL was created to help address these challenges by providing practical information informed by firearms law and industry experience.

Our Approach to Firearms Education

RocketFFL was founded by Ryan Cleckner, a firearms attorney with extensive experience representing Federal Firearms Licensees and advising on legal and regulatory matters involving the firearms industry.

Ryan has also held leadership positions within the firearms industry, including at Remington Outdoor Company and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

His experience informs the educational resources published on RocketFFL, with an emphasis on explaining regulatory requirements and helping readers make informed decisions.

Our goal is to provide reliable information without unnecessarily complicating subjects that are already difficult to navigate.

For more information about our approach to accuracy, research, and editorial oversight, please review our Editorial Policy.

Who RocketFFL May Not Be For

Although RocketFFL covers a range of firearms-related subjects, its primary focus is federal firearms licensing and the operation of licensed firearms businesses.

Readers primarily interested in firearm reviews, shooting instruction, recreational shooting, or general firearm ownership may find that much of our content falls outside their interests.

RocketFFL is also not a substitute for individualized legal representation. While our resources explain general laws and regulatory requirements, they cannot address every circumstance that may affect a particular individual or business.

Readers facing a specific legal issue should consult a qualified attorney familiar with the applicable firearms laws.
